Soft Gamine: Long Formal Dress

Every woman can wear a long dress! For Soft Gamine inspiration, look no further than Audrey Hepburn.

The key to making them work on this petite, angular frame seems to be:

  1. Stiff lines (unlike Romantics, Naturals and Soft Dramatics),

  2. Tightly cinched waist (unlike Flamboyant Gamines and Dramatics),

  3. Abundance of detail (unlike Dramatics or either Classic).

This beautiful jacquard dress fits the bill! I adore jacquard and it's really exquisite on gamines, it seems made for them.

Be ready to have this one hemmed. That's fairly standard for formal dresses; they're made to accommodate any height and heel, and you have them hemmed to your liking. I know it's terrifying to choose a tailor but don't overthink it, they'll all do a great job for pretty much the same price, just pick the one closest to your house.

Sky Blue for True Spring, (Dark Winter has a similar light blue but the shiny metallic gold is too tinny for her palette,)

Pink Lilac (it's really not pink in the slightest) for any Winter,

Fuchsia for Bright Winter or Bright Spring.
