Reader Question: "How can a Soft Classic look effortless?"

Thanks for the question Natalie! This one's a two-parter.

First of all, let's establish that NONE of us have a truly effortless style, in the sense of "always looking amazing no matter what I'm wearing." Some pieces are always going to work better than others; even Hollywood starlets occasionally choose a dud.

I love the comic below because a) I LOL'ed because it's relatable, and b) I know what's going on here!

Before Kibbe, I absolutely shared this frustration. For me, it was the big pearl studs that were so popular in the 2000s. I could not understand why they didn't work for me! I get it now, though: Classics look amazing in them, but for me (a Soft Natural) they are just not my destiny. Similarly, the clothes in the comic (messy top knot, jogger+tee) are great on Soft Naturals, but artist Sarah Anderson is 100% most definitely a Gamine. However - I guarantee that when she wears turtlenecks or high-rise combat boots, those other girls are asking themselves the same thing - "How is she pulling that off? Why doesn't it look like that on me?"

This is why I think Kibbe is the antidote to envy. Everybody has their own perfections, and nobody has them all. Let's just enjoy our beautiful human bodies while we have them.

Now for our second truth: I think what Natalie is really asking (and correct me if I'm wrong,) is: "How can a Soft Classic embody an easy-breezy relaxed aesthetic?"

Aha! Now that's something we can figure out. Everybody looks best in their own LINES, but can wear any AESTHETIC they want.

When I think effortless/relaxed, the first thing that comes to mind is a t-shirt. Soft Classics are so lucky to be able to wear crew neck tees! Be sure to find one with fitted shoulder seams (not drop shoulders), and keep it tucked in.

And jeans, of course. Look for "straight leg" or "tapered leg." Crop jeans are especially good.

Shoes are tricky for Soft Classics. You want the lightest shoe you can find - anything chunky weighs you down, visually. Sandals are great on you! Choose something slim and strappy, as close to barefoot as you can get. Sneakers I covered in a previous post.

There's nothing more effortless than a ponytail, and it's perfect on you! If you want to look extra, extra amazing and have other people wondering "how does she always look so effortlessly chic," add a hair scarf. Either a normal one or one attached to a scrunchie.

Delicate jewelry is the finishing touch. Soft Classics do this look SO well and it is just incredibly chic and looks so natural and effortless on them.

Natalie, I hope this helps! I'm here to answer reader questions so keep them coming!
